What is Nail Art (Nail Architecture)?

Nail art (or nail architecture) is an exciting journey beyond a typical manicure or pedicure with nail polish. Nail art allows the wearer to personalize their nails to harmonize with their clothes, makeup, shoes and accessories. Often times, nail art may include use of elements like crystals, stickers, glitter, graphic designs, multicolored polishes, lace or fabrics. Nail art can be applied to any type of nail, either natural or artificial.

Intricate nail art is quite popular in Japan and Korea, but now the nail art trend has spread worldwide. Many famous Hollywood actresses, fashionable singer, musicians and fashion models in the United States are generous these trendsetting nail designs, and many women want to emulate this look. Although nail polish and nail brushes are available for home manicures, doing intricate nail art on your own fingernails can be quite complicated. Many women go to specialized nail salons to get nail art done.

Spa Pedicure Training-Workshop

Refrain from shaving your legs. Be warned against shaving, using hair removal creams, or waxing your legs and feet during the 24 hours before getting a pedicure. Hair removal can cause cuts or subtle abrasions that you don’t even notice on your feet.

You might want to bring your own pedicure tools. Bacteria and fungus can easily move from one client to the next on pedicure utensils that haven’t been properly sterilized. Bringing your own tools will eliminate that risk. Some tools, like nail buffers and emery boards, can’t be sterilized. Even in the most pristine salons, these tools may not be replaced after each customer.

Inside the salon, take a look around. Do the surfaces and water where clients put their feet appear sanitary? If they look dirty, find another place to get a pedicure. Also, check out the bathroom. If the bathrooms are dirty, that’s a clue that the pedicure salon may not have high hygiene standards. Don't hesitate to ask about the salon’s disinfecting procedures. Footbaths should be washed and drained with disinfectant between clients and every night, and pedicure instruments should be soaked in disinfectant between clients. Footbaths and instruments that aren’t properly disinfected could harbor bacteria and fungus that can cause infections to the feet.

Spa Manicure Training-Workshop

There are things that we should never ignore about our appearance. In just focusing our attention to our face we often forget the next most essential aspects of our body’s grooming. The feet and hands are essentially the next most important of our appearance to give an overall impression of neatness and hygiene.

Home based or professional manicure and pedicure should always be a part of anyone’s beauty regimen. Keeping our nails and toes clean also means that we keep them free of bacteria entering our system and bringing other diseases to the body. Nails and fingers are some of the first areas to catch fungus if there be any. Filing and shaping the nails neatly after soaking them in a warm tub of soapy water is very good. If we add some beneficial essential oils to them that is all the better! Tea tree and lavender are some of the favorite essential oils that one can use.

There are several home-based manicure-pedicure kits complete with scrubs, brushes and oils which can be important investment rather than rushing to the parlor every week. But if you don’t want to miss the amazing feeling of the great massage that one gets in parlor then you must go for a professional pedicure and manicure.

Contraindications and Precautions to Massage Therapy

Certain medical conditions require the exercise of caution concerning the advisability of giving or receiving massage. If you are in any doubt, or if you or your partner are under medical supervision, check with your doctor or other qualified medical practitioner before embarking on massage therapy. This advice applies particularly in the case of cardiovascular conditions and heart disease, especially in cases of thrombosis, phlebitis, and edema.

Never apply pressure under or over varicose veins. Never massage directly over infected skin, for example where there are warts, herpes, or boils, or where there is inflammation, unexplained lumps, bruises and open cuts. While giving a massage, cover up any open cuts or scratches on your hands with a plaster or other dressing. Massage on the abdomen is best avoided during the first three months of pregnancy when the risk of miscarriage is highest.

The causes of acute back pain should first be diagnosed by a physician before receiving massage treatment. Consult a qualified medical practitioner in cases of raised temperature, infections, or contagious disease.

Seek medical advice before having a massage if you suffer from phlebitis, thrombosis, varicose veins, severe acute back pain, or fever.

Swellings, fractures, skin infections, or bruises should not be massaged. Lumps and swellings should be checked by your doctor.

Massage of the abdomen, legs, and feet should not be given during the first three months of pregnancy.

Maxicare and Body Options: One in Health and Wellness

With increased blood circulation and improved blood pressure, you will notice a reduction in your heart rate as well as a lower pulse. This reflexive response with massage encourages your entire body to relax!

Massage therapy also impacts the cardiovascular system by reducing the occurrence of ischemia in the body. Ischemia is the reduced blood supply due to constricted or blocked arteries.

The increase in blood circulation, allowing nutrients, hormones and wastes to move accordingly, contributes to the increase in the count of red blood cells, which in turn will allow more oxygen to enter the bloodstream. Studies have found an increase in white blood cell counts and the way white blood cells are able to adhere and function. We'll look at white blood cells and platelets when we study the effects massage has on the lymphatic system.

This is not an all-inclusive list of ways massage can benefit your heart and blood vessels, but this is a great start in gaining a better understanding. As always, you should consult your physician or/and massage therapist if you have any questions about whether or not massage therapy is right for you!

Body Options in Boracay Island (Aklan, Philippines)

Boracay Island - One of the most vibrant destinations in Asia!

Boracay is one of the over 7,000 island of the Philippines located approximately 315 km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. The Boracay Island and its beaches were awarded for many times. Boracay was awarded in the "Travelers' Choice 2011" by TripAdvisor as the second best beach (out of 25) in the world.

The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak (3 of the 17 barangays which make up the municipality of Malay), and is under the administrative control of the Philippine Tourism Authority in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan.

There are a number of accommodation types are scattered all over the island, ranging from luxurious hotels to budget, spartan rooms. Along White Beach, location is often specified in relation to three boat stations. Station 2 is roughly at the center of the beach, with Stations 1 and 3 respectively to the north and south. The whitest and finest texture sand is found in Station 1 area at the northern end of the beach.

Station 3 is where most of the cheaper lodgings are located, while Station 2 is are for those who desire to be in proximity of the bars. Station 1 is where you can find higher-end and mid-tier accommodations. While previously targeted toward the more upscale vacationers, as of 2010 there are more mid-tier options in this frequently photographed section of the island.

Most of the Boracay hotels and resorts have seasonal price levels, with high season prices generally coinciding with Amihan Season dates. Some have peak period pricing during periods of heavy tourism (usually including Christmas / New Year, Easter / Holy Week, and Chinese New Year periods).

Body Options International Development Center had the chance to be a part of this island's legacy of timeless scenery and the local's devotion to health and wellness. A million thanks to Cha Foot and Body Spa, and to Boracay Gardens their warm hospitality and excellent accommodation.

Leisure activities available on or near Boracay include scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, kiteboarding, cliff diving, and beach relaxation. Boracay is the site of a world-class 18-hole par 72 golf course designed by Graham Marsh. In addition, as of 2010, Boracay has in excess of 350 beach resorts offering more than 2,000 rooms ranging in quality from five-star to budget accommodations, so tourists are sure to find whatever they are looking for. In addition, Boracay offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, pubs, and nightclubs.

The two main modes of transport are via motor-tricycles along the main road or by walking along the beaches. Pedicabs are also available for transport along the Beachfront Path. Other means of transportation include mountain bikes, quadbikes and motorbikes, all of which can be rented.

To explore around the island's coast, motorized bancas and sailing paraws are available for rent. These are outrigger canoes and are common sight in waters around the island. The sailing paraw is a narrow hulled boat with outriggers either side and with passengers sometimes seated on a trampoline platform between the outrigger supports. These are extremely fast off the wind, but can be unwieldy for inexperienced sailors.
