Client Consultation in Day Spas and Nail Salons

Tips on Effective Client Interview / Consutation:
  1. Make it a habit to Invite the client into your salon by shaking her hand and introducing yourself; address the client by her name if she has visited the salon before. Provide her with a chair that has a backrest and sit across her so you face each other.
  2. Present your client with the necessary paper work, which includes a consultation form to fill and provide her with a pen. Sit with her and assist her whenever necessary.
  3. Go through a client file where you will record all the treatment you give her in the future and any information she gives you.
  4. Ask questions on your client's lifestyle, schedule, personal style and personal preferences. Ask open questions that begin with "how," "what," "why," "where," "which" and "who" to enable you to learn as much as you can from the client.
  5. Listen to your client attentively, maintain eye contact throughout the consultation and clarify the information given if not clear. Note any information that will help you choose a treatment for her.
  6. Perform the necessary treatments and explain to the client what happens at every treatment. Advise her on how to style her hair or take care of her nails and skin while at home. Alternatively, book an appointment where she will come in for the treatment.
  7. Recommend products she will use at home and offer her an appointment where you will assess her progress.
